There always seems to be some wild little tale about her—the man on the moon, a moon goddess, or some mysterious creature living up there in the night sky.

I remember the first time I really looked up at her. She was shining through my bedroom window and making my little room so bright, and I remember thinking she could swallow me whole

Funny enough, I don’t feel that way anymore

Now, when I’m stressed or overwhelmed, I find myself looking up at the moon. She feels less like something enormous and frightening and more like an old friend. Something that’s been here long before me and will be here long after me, quietly watching over everything
